HH: In summary, what are your research interests?
NF: Phytoplankton physiology and marine primary productivity.
HH: What are you currently working on as part of CBIOMES?
NF: The goal of my master’s thesis with Zoe and Andrew is to use transcriptomics as a tool to estimate growth rate in the picophytoplankton Synechococcus.
HH: What is your educational background?
NF: I received my bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University in 2022 where I worked with Paul Falkowski on evolutionary trends of oxidoreductases and the genetic mechanisms of photoacclimation.
