HH: In summary, what are your research interests?
SS: My research interest focuses on integrating remote sensing and machine learning to advance environmental monitoring, particularly for water resources over regional and gloabla scales.
HH: What is your role in Chris’s group? What will you be working on for CBIOMES?
SS: My role in Shubha’s group and for CBIOMES is to improve the OC-CCI ocean color dataset to enhance primary production (PP) estimates. Additionally, I focus on integrating refined satellite data with machine learning to better model PP, particularly under harmful algal bloom conditions.
HH: What is your educational background (BS, MS)?
SS: I hold a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and an M.Sc. in Sanitary Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, and earned my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Engineering from The University of Tokyo, Japan
