A warm welcome to graduate student Nuwanthi Samarasinghe from the Finkel-Dalhousie Group who recently joined CBIOMES.

Nuwanthi is a PhD candidate who has research interests in the physiology of microalgae and the impacts of environmental changes on the physiology of microalgae and ultimately on ocean biogeochemical cycles.
As a member of the Dalhousie-Finkel CBIOMES group, Nuwanthi is working on changes in physiology and elemental and macromolecular composition of smaller diatoms under different environmental conditions.
Nuwanthi received her BSc (Specialized in Aquaculture and Fisheries) from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (2015) and MSc (Major in Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources) from Ghent University, Belgium (2018). She joined the Marine Microbial Macroecology Lab at Dalhousie as a PhD student in September 2019.
